German Coffee Cake

From Rose Gillisse

2 cups brown sugar
3 cups flour
1 cup shortening/oleo
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
Mix together until crumbly. Save out 1 cup of crumb mix.

1 cup sour milk/buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 eggs
Mix together until it sounds "hollow".
Add to crumb mixture.
Put in 9X13 pan. Top with extra crumbs. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
